Health Education/Promotion - Community Outreach (3 MONTHS)

The AmeriCorps member in this position will focus on health education and community outreach at the Douglas County Health Department through activities such as development and implementation of strategic program goals, assisting with Summer Food Program sites, coordination of community events, educational outreach at schools, fairs, etc., and much more.  See link below for full position description.

Environmental Health and Emergency Preparedness

Waterloo, IL

Primary Responsibilities:

·      Environmental health: permit research programming, plan and execute updating permit procedures.

·      Emergency preparedness: assist with medical reserve corps, contact tracing, and plan immunization point of dispensing activities.

·      Assist in development and execution on community needs assessment.

·      Shadow current staff in clinical, WIC, and FCM to gain understanding on how the Health Department operates (some direct work will be done in this area and will shadow for a couple of days).

·      Serve a total of 1,200 hours over a 9-month period.

·      Complete and submit all necessary IPHA AmeriCorps paperwork and reports by pre-determined deadlines.

·      Attend all IPHA AmeriCorps trainings including orientation and team trainings.

·      Complete all IPHA AmeriCorps required National Days of Service projects.

·      Some local and out of town travel required.
